The 2023 Ford F-150 includes an 8" touchscreen infotainment display, a navigation system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and satellite radio, even with the base model. With the Ford Lightning, you get a standard 12" touchscreen, along with the SYNC 4 infotainment system.
Cargo Capacity
With your 2023 Ford F-150, you can choose the 5.5', 6.5' or 8' truck bed. When equipped properly, it can haul up to 3,250 pounds. There's only one bed option with the Ford Lightning. The 5.6' bed can haul a maximum of 1,800 pounds with the Extended Range Battery or 2,000 pounds with the Standard Range Battery.Â

Towing Capacity
The new F-150 has a maximum towing capability of 14,000 pounds. With the Lightning equipped with the Extended Range Battery, you can tow up to 10,000 pounds. Even the Standard Range Battery provides towing up to 7,700 pounds.
Drivetrain & Suspension
With the 2023 F-150 lineup, there's an option between rear- and four-wheel drive. In comparison, the Ford Lightning has two motors, one for each axle. This configuration creates standard all-wheel drive with each of the models.
Engine
The 2023 Ford F-150 has seven different engine options, including a hybrid configuration. The standard engines range in horsepower from 250 to 400. However, the F-150 Raptor has a 450-hp engine, and the Raptor R boasts a 700-hp powerhouse. With the F-150 Lightning, you get the option between a Standard Range (98.0-kWh battery) and the Extended Range (131-kWh battery). Between the two, you can enjoy 426 to 563 horsepower.Â

Performance & MPG
The 2023 Ford F-150 receives the best fuel economy when choosing the hybrid configuration. This Ford truck is rated at 25/26 mpg. With the Ford Lightning, you get up to 230 miles of driving range with the Standard option or up to 300 miles with the Extended model.
Safety Features
Both Ford trucks include standard pedestrian detection, automated emergency braking, and a rearview camera. With the Ford Lightning, you also get lane keep assist and lane departure warning without spending any more money.

The 2023 Ford F-150 has received the benefit of being an IIHS Top Safety Pick. Additionally, Car and Driver says, "From the work-spec XL to the posh Limited trim, there's an F-150 for every style and budget."
